don't know how rare a true 7X7 elk is to see in the wild, on public land, in a huntable location, but if I had to guess I'd say the chances are just above seeing a bigfoot. Danny took an overnight trip into the hills last night and he was rewarded with the sight of this beauty. Having his dog at his side, Danny still crept to within 50 yards of this magnificent bull to get a couple of pictures.
This bull was literally bedded in some cliffs. He came into the grass to feed, and went back to the cliffs to bed. He was all alone in a totally isolated and very small drainage.
The Columbines were in full bloom.
